About LOMCB
History
The Lake Oswego Millennium Concert Band (LOMCB)
was formed in the fall of 1999 as part of the Millennium celebration
sponsored by the City of Lake Oswego. The charge for the band was
to perform one of a series of concerts and activities that would lead
the Lake Oswego community toward a grand community celebration of the
coming of the new millennium. Dale Cleland, a long-time Lake
Oswego resident and former Lake Oswego Schools Director of Music, was
appointed as director of the new organization. A call for
musicians went out and rehearsals started soon thereafter for the 55
member concert band.
The band had a highly successful concert in
November, 1999, and since the musicians and their director were having
so much fun, it was decided to continue the band's rehearsal and
performance schedule. The band played a well received concert at
Marylhurst University in early April, 2000, and performed again before a
large and enthusiastic crowd in the newly dedicated Millennium Park
Plaza in downtown Lake Oswego in June, 2000.
In the spring of 2000, the Band was contacted by
the Arts Commission from the City of Lake Oswego and was asked to join
that group as a representative to further the Arts for the Citizens of
Lake Oswego. The Lake Oswego City Council formalized the addition
of the Lake Oswego Millennium Concert Band as part of the Lake Oswego
Arts Commission in June, 2000.
During the 2002-03 season, LOMCB rehearses each Sunday evening in the band room at Lakeridge
High School or Lake Oswego High School and will
continue to present high quality musical performances for the citizens
of Lake Oswego and the surrounding area.

of page Membership
Members of LOMCB come from several communities and
while many live in the Lake Oswego area or have ties to Lake Oswego as
former students, that relationship is not a requirement. Our
members are physicians, teachers, housewives, computer technologists,
train engineers, scientists, engineers, retirees and on and on.
The only requirements are that they have a love of music, play their
instruments at an acceptable level and are willing to share their
musical skills with others by attending rehearsals regularly and
performing in our concerts. Our rehearsals are designed to be fun
and enjoyable, and at the same time musically and technically
demanding. Since it is necessary that a proper balance between
instruments is maintained, prospective members should contact the
Musical Director at (503) 603-0511. Also, for additional
information see Member Info.
